Olivier Laurent returns with Solin Anj, a 7-track innovative concept EP that blurs the lines between music and storytelling. Released alongside an illustrated children’s book of the same name, the project draws listeners into the imagined perspective of a child preparing to be born.
From the opening track, For A Long Time Pt. 2, Laurent sets a warm reflective tone, blending soulful production by @dozathedrumdealer718 with lyrics that carry both vulnerability and quiet strength. The title track, Solin Anj (produced by @axysbeats), is a heartfelt centerpiece, pulling you into the emotional core of the project. Tracks like Out of Spite and I Like It (both produced by @keepitrealcole) add variety to the pacing, mixing sharper edges with moments of playful ease.
The latter half of the EP leans more into up beat introspection, with If You Ask Me and Konpliman delivering high melodic energy before closing the project on the poignant Sold Out. Each track feels intentional, guided by Laurent’s unshakable ability to merge narrative purpose with smooth, confident delivery.
Solin Anj isn’t just a collection of songs — it’s a conceptual journey rooted in love, fear, hope, and transformation. It solidifies why Olivier Laurent remains one of the few artists I’ve ever given a perfect score to in the past ("Lavi Bon" released in 2022). The fact that it comes packaged with a children’s book makes it all the more memorable — proof that hip hop can still innovate without losing its soul.
