Declan the Celebrity "DECSVILLE" | Rap Nerd Reviews

ree

I came into DECSVILLE knowing almost nothing about Declan beyond “NY rapper/producer.” That actually worked in the album’s favor, because the project immediately pulls you into his world and lets the artistry do the talking. Here’s the full ride through Decsville, track by track.

FULL ALBUM REVIEW VIDEO

1) “Ivory Rap”

Cold opener. Declan jumps straight into his world detailing vivid images of his lifestyle with his sharp pen. He sets the mood right away.

2) “That Potion”

Smoky, soulful pocket. Lyrics match the hazy beat. Easy head-nod joint.

3) “Real National Parks” (feat. Angel the Alchemist)

Poetic cadence. Some gems about growth and change. This feature didn’t hit me as hard as the others, but the concept’s dope.

4) “Devil’s Tango”

Short interlude about dancing with temptation. Adds color to the album story.

5) “The Carousel Pt. II”

Origin story energy. Rapid bounce flow over a chill beat loop. I love that contrast.

6) “Jimmy Hopkins” (feat. DoubleO)

Punchlines on punchlines! Dark, eerie imagery. Dope features seem to make Declan stay on his A-game. This one slaps.

7) “Rats” (feat. King Gus)

Grimy details, great chemistry. King Gus shows out and Declan keeps pace.

8) “Valium”

Beautiful loop, sticky idea. Party scenes and bad-trip flashes in one record.

9) “Supreme Legwear”

This joint is gutter sounding, with minimal drums with a mean sample. It gives me that classic Mobb Deep feel.

10) “The Appalachian Song”

This song feels like a suynny day. Catchy without losing the pen game.

11) “WTD ?” (feat. Anthony Canon)

Street math, class contrast, and a hook that lands once you clock the title means "what's the difference?" Super solid track..

12) "ZEPHYR"

Leans into noir horror. Little news-clip texture. Weird in a good way.

13) “Bucky Irving”

Running-back metaphors everywhere on this joint. Tough bars like: “ransom notes in cursive."

14) “The Grotto” (feat. Al The Punisher)

High-octane feature, then Declan goes cinematic—safe houses, tapes, the whole movie. Big energy.

15) “BushMeat”

Ridiculous on purpose. Grotesque humor turned flex. He commits, so it works.

16) “Very Medicinal” (feat. 513Jaayy & Th3prism) <— My Favorite

Floaty loop and hard bars. All 3 verses went crazy. If this had been 4:20 long it would’ve perfect 😉. Fire record.

17) “Placemats”

Strong closer. Family shout-outs, mission talk, and a final bow that ties the themes up.

Bottom line

DECSVILLE is bar heavy and super cohesive. Declan’s writing is vivid and a little unhinged in the best way. He levels up on collabs too. Only knock: 17 tracks of mostly “downer”/drum-light vibes can feel long. Trim to 11–12 and this punches even harder.

Standouts: “Ivory Rap,” “That Potion,” “Jimmy Hopkins,” “Rats,” “Supreme Legwar,” “Very Medicinal,” “Placemats.”

Rap Nerd Rating: 8.5/10
